Suzanne Hüsser : IFMGA Guide
Nationality: Swiss
First worked with Alpine Guides: 2003

Suzanne is probably one of the hardest working guides in NZ, rarely taking time out from her busy work schedule. She spends her year in almost permanent summer, split between guiding here in NZ, and in the European Alps.

A natural athlete, she began climbing as a 12 year old in the Swiss Alps, and later gained a diploma as Sports Instructor from ETH Zurich.

She started guiding in 1997 and became the first woman in Europe to achieve full IFMGA status. Quite an achievement in the very male dominated European guiding scene.

Her determination is reflected in her amazing success rate on big peaks like Mount Cook, where she's seldom failed to make a summit, and is generally the first to the peak. We almost feel sorry for her clients!

Suzanne's also been a snowboarding instructor at Blatten Belalp, and has guided and climbed all over the world, including in China, USA, and South America.

With her international lifestyle Suzanne is fluent in German, French, and English, and has a smattering of Spanish and Italian. When she does take time out to relax she's likely to be spotted on a sunny crag near Lake Wanaka.
