Advanced Alpine Skills is a climbing course for experienced mountaineers. The course is based in the Mt Cook area, and runs at a low 1:3 maximum guide to participant ratio.

The Advanced Alpine is a great follow-up to the Technical Mountaineering Course (TMC). In particular it suits experienced climbers who want a refresher, and a great climbing trip.
Instruction topics include:
- Snow and ice climbing: a workshop on steep ice climbing techniques
- Alternatives for snow, ice and rock anchors
- Glacier travel and advanced crevasse rescue
- Advanced rope techniques, like ridge travel and running belays
Experience Required
- High level of aerobic fitness
- Alpine climbing experience - at least the level of the Technical Mountaineering Course ›
- Lead climb to AU rock grade 16
