Our expeditions have been developed to give the time needed to work around snow conditions, changing weather, and for travel into and out of your venue. Instead of fixed departures, we allocates guides to work to your preferred dates (subject to availability).

Aoraki/Mt Cook

Aoraki the "Cloud Piercer"

At 3754 metres, Aoraki/Mount Cook is New Zealand's highest peak. A long and physically demanding climb of moderate technical difficulty by the standard route.

  • Mount Cook is guided on a strict 1:1 ratio
  • Duration: 6 days
  • Recommended season: November - February

Rarakiora, "Long Unbroken Line"

NZ's second highest mountain (3498 metres) presents a beautiful wind-carved ice summit. Mount Tasman is a serious and committing climb for the fit and experienced alpinist.

  • Duration: 7 days

Tititea the "Glistening Peak"

The breathtaking peak of Mount Aspiring (3027 metres) is often called the "Matterhorn of the Southern Alps" The highest peak outside the Mount Cook region offers a great challenge for those already with a good base of alpine skills.

  • Mt Aspiring can guided at a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio
  • Duration: 5 days
  • Recommended season: November - April

Across The Main Divide ››

Across the Main Divide

Modeled on classic mountain journeys of old ,we fly in to Pioneer Hut at the head of Fox Glacier before traversing and climbing across the vast glacial nevés back to Mt Cook Village, through Graham Saddle, across the Main Divide of the Southern Alps.

  • Duration: 8 days
  • Guiding ratio: 1 or 2 participants per guide
  • Season: November - April

Tasman Glacier Grand Expedition

An Epic 12 day climbing trip

After flying in to the high nevé, the Grand Expedition involves climbing as many summits as possible whilst traveling on foot down the length of New Zealand's longest glacier. This is a trip for experienced alpinists with high levels of fitness and endurance.

  • Duration: 12 days
  • Recommended season: November - April

The Ascents Program is Ideal for experienced climbers. whether you have one or more peaks in your sights, or want to up-skill, let us know your ambitions and we can make it happen!

  • Guiding ratio: 1 participant per guide

Classic Alpine Rock Ascents

Tucked away throughout the Southern Alps are many long, stunning rock routes leading to spectacular summits.

Developed and guided by Sam Bosshard, get off the beaten track and climb some of NZ’s finest rock.

  • Recommended season: January thru April

Experience high alpine peaks - right on our doorstep!

Why go further? A number of excellent peaks lie within a stone's throw of Mt Cook Village. A low cost walk in/out package, Local Heroes is a great option for those with limited time, who want to get a taste of the potential of the Mt Cook region.

  • Duration: 5 or 6 day options
  • Guided at a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio
  • Recommended season: November thru April

Private Instruction & Guiding ››

Private Instruction

Alpine Guides specialise in tailored training trips for specific objectives. The "PI" option is Ideal for beginner through advanced alpinists, or just for a group of friends who want a "private climbing course".

  • Duration: 6 or more days
  • Guiding ratio: 2-4 participants per guide
