Alpine Ski Touring | Mount Cook
New Zealand's Aoraki/Mount Cook region offers some of the best high-alpine ski touring in the world. Alpine Guides' Alpine Ski Touring package is for small "private" groups of back country skiing enthusiasts.
Private Ski Tours Tailored to your Experience
You choose the dates, and we will tailor the tour to suit your ski touring experience, and ambitions. Previous touring or mountaineering experience is not required.
Based From Mountain Huts
Alpine tours are based from the network of high mountain huts across Mt Cook and Westland National Parks.
You can stay in one location, or travel between huts to see a greater variety of terrain ( if experience and conditions allow).
Touring areas include the Tasman, Murchison, Mannering, Aida, Fox and Franz Josef glaciers. Plus there are many non-technical ascents leading to some incredible downhill turns.
See the Mt Cook Area Map for hut locations ›
Winter Seasonality and Snow
Snow conditions and temperatures change throughout winter.
Spring (September- October) snow conditions are usually best for first-time ski tourers. Read more about winter snow and weather here ›
