How much is the deposit?
- The standard deposit is NZ$1,000. The deposit confirms your place on your trip.
- No deposit is required for the TMC Tune-up. Full payment is due when paying the balance owing on your TMC.
When is the balance of payment required?

Online Booking form security
Our booking forms reside on a secure server provided by a NZ company, Super Secure.
Your credit card is not charged in "real-time". We retrieve your details, and then a real person in our office charges your credit card.
Your credit card and personal information is deleted from the secure server.
Payment types for booking online
A valid Visa, MasterCard, Amex, or JCB is required for the online booking form. A 2% service charge applies to all American Express and JCB payments.
Do I have to book online?
No. You can download a .pdf booking form, print and complete by hand. Fax, scan and email, or post this to us including your payment details.
Alternative methods of payment
We accept direct bank deposits, NZ bank account cheques, payment via PayPal, or international bank drafts (in NZ Dollars). Contact us for bank account deposit or Paypal payments ›
Cancelling your Booking
Please phone or email us as soon as possible to cancel your reservation. A cancellation fee will apply. See the cancellation policy on the Conditions | Bookings & Cancellation page ›
We recommend travel insurance to cover for loss of deposits in case of unexpected illness or injury that prevents you attending your trip.
Your Privacy
All your personal information is kept private. Credit card information is deleted from the secure server. We do not forward any information to 3rd parties or mailing lists. We do not give out client personal details without your express permission.
Booking Restrictions
If you send in a booking and we think your ambitions/background/experience don't stack up, we will let you know. If in doubt please contact us and ask questions before booking.
Minimum Experience
Each set of detailed trip notes lists minimum experience requirements for each trip. In some cases we may ask for a "resumé" of previous relevant experience.
Maximum Age
We don't have an upper age limit - you should be the judge of your own abilities. We regularly look after tough nuts in their 70's.
Minimum Age
We normally do not accept participants of less than 17 years old, unless in privately arranged group activities.
Participants under 18 years must have their booking form signed/acknowledged by a legal parent or guardian.
Existing Medical Conditions
If you have a medical condition that could pose a threat to your own (or your guides) safety, we need certification (from a registered medical practitioner) that you are fit to participate.
Travel Insurance for your Alpine Guides Trip
You don't need insurance specifically for mountaineering, but we strongly recommend standard travel insurance.
This may help cover you if you have to cancel your trip at the last minute. Read more ›
