We recommend travel insurance to cover you for unexpected cancellation, or other misadventure on your travels. Insurance specifically for mountaineering activities is optional.

Alpine Guides is an agent for Comprehensive Insurance in New Zealand. Contact us if you would like a quote for standard travel insurance.
We are unable to provide insurance for mountaineering activities. There is a total exclusion for NZ mountaineering with all NZ-based insurance brokers.
Finding insurance cover for mountaineering
Overseas visitors who want insurance for mountaineering/adventure activities must arrange this independently, before leaving home. Extra insurance cover is made at your discretion.
With the New Zealand ACC system most Alpine Guides guests do not take an extension for "adventure activities" on their insurance.

Accident Compensation Corporation in New Zealand
The Accident Compensation (ACC) system extends to all visitors to New Zealand.
ACC covers most (if not all) costs in the event of an accident, including evacuation and/or medical treatment, and rehabilitation.
The ACC system is based on a “no fault” principle. There is a complete bar to legal action for damages as a result of any accident.
